Incidence and Outcome Disparities in High Grade Endometrial Cancers
Friday, September 19th, 11 AM

Dr. Cote is a molecular cancer epidemiologist who is interested in the intersection of health disparities and tumor biology. She is currently the Director of the Susan G. Komen Tissue Bank at Indiana University.  This tissue bank is the only source of normal, healthy breast tissue, donated by people free of breast cancer. An underlying theme of her work is the utilization of tissue to better understand carcinogenesis, from disease initiation to survival, with special emphasis on including participants that have historically been underrepresented in research.

She has been the site PI for AACES, the only study of ovarian cancer in black women, and has additional funding focused on high grade endometrial cancer from the NCI.

Dr. Cote received a BS in Biology from the University of Michigan, a MPH from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and a doctorate in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She spent 22 years at Wayne State University and the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, ending as a Professor of Oncology and Associate Center Director for education.

Since 2022, Dr. Cote is a Professor in the Fairbanks School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology, the Dr. Carrie Ann Glasscock West Chair in Breast Carcinogenesis, and a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at the Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center.
